Compassionate Cancer Support for Your Organization
Naviance® is a cancer navigation and support program for your entire workforce and their loved ones. Naviance provides dedicated, personalized support to reduce risk, promote health and quality of life, and contain costs.

Naviance: Johns Hopkins Medicine’s Cancer Navigation Program
Developed and used at Johns Hopkins, Naviance is a comprehensive cancer support program that guides your workforce to reduce their cancer risk, detect symptoms early and access the right care at the right time, wherever they live.
At the heart of the program are our clinically trained and AONN+ certified Oncology Nurse Navigators (ONNs) — held to the rigorous Johns Hopkins Medicine standards — who provide personalized, one-on-one emotional support throughout the entire journey as a complement to an individual’s core medical cancer team.
From prevention and early detection to treatment, caregiving and survivorship, your employees receive expert guidance via text, email or phone, tailored to their unique needs and goals.
Core Features
Our ONNs have access to 9,000 AONN+ navigators and Johns Hopkins world-renowned specialists for rare and complex cases who can help find best-in-class care around the country to connect individuals to local resources, experts and second opinions.
ONNs are available via call, text or email from the moment an individual needs it — before a diagnosis is even made. Access a wealth of trusted information written and maintained by Johns Hopkins experts and easily schedule appointments with the ONN through the Naviance website.
Developed by Johns Hopkins’ oncology nurse Lillie Shockney (co-founder of the Academy of Oncology Nurse and Patient Navigators) and Terry Langbaum (former chief administrative officer at Johns Hopkins Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center), Naviance is continuously updated with oversight from the oncology experts at one of the top cancer hospitals in the world — Johns Hopkins Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center — and backed by world-class research and proven, patient-centered methodologies.

Frequently Asked Questions
Naviance is a cancer prevention, support and navigation employee benefit program designed to help large employers support their workforce and their loved ones.
It’s comprised of two pathways:
- The website, which hosts evidence-based educational resources maintained by Johns Hopkins cancer experts
- Our Johns Hopkins Oncology Nurse Navigators, the heart of the program, who are accessible via multiple channels (appointment, workplace webinars and trainings, email, phone call and more)
Naviance helps employees and their loved ones reduce cancer risk, navigate quickly to appropriate care and access support to help live and work through treatment as a patient or caregiver.
Naviance is designed to support anyone affected by cancer — whether directly or indirectly. This includes:
- Anyone with questions, concerns or a need for help navigating life with cancer
- Individuals seeking guidance on screenings, prevention or early detection
- Individuals who have received a cancer diagnosis
- Survivors
- Those who are facing end-of-life care
- Caregivers
- Loved ones of someone with cancer
- Managers supporting an employee facing cancer
The biggest difference-maker: Naviance Oncology Nurse Navigators (ONNs) who are clinically trained in all aspects of the cancer experience. Naviance ONNs are:
- Clinically trained in oncology
- Possess knowledge of workplace legislation and employee rights
- Utilize a unique clinical navigation methodology based on NCCN and Johns Hopkins Medicine standards of care
- Connected to clinical oncology specialists nationwide
- Available virtually, outside the place of care
Naviance ONNs can help with:
- Navigation for the whole family and caregivers
- Navigation to in-network insurance benefits
- Referrals to other employee benefits
- Navigation before, during, and after cancer treatment
Many organizations have continued offering Naviance for many years because of its sustained impact. By proactively engaging employees through education and outreach, Naviance can help increase cancer screening rates and promote earlier diagnoses — leading to more effective, less costly treatment. This ongoing engagement also ensures the program is top of mind when an employee or loved one is diagnosed and needs support the most. Even a single case of faster access to care, appropriate treatment guidance and whole-person support — enabling an employee to continue working or caregiving during treatment — can demonstrate the program’s significant return on investment.
Naviance is designed to complement your existing benefits by connecting employees to appropriate resources — such as your EAP, second opinion services or behavioral health already available to them — through personalized nurse navigation and seamless referrals.
